When my husband and I received the keys to our new home (new to us, but really 16 years old), we knew the first room we wanted to tackle was the kitchen. We were dead set on having the kitchen completed before we actually moved in the house and we knew it was going to be the largest room to remodel in the house.
I learn something new all the time from the health and fitness gurus that I follow on Instagram. Last week, when I saw a “Protein Style” version of a Starbucks Iced Vanilla Latte on Instagram. I couldn’t help but think, “Genius!”
Here’s how it works. You go to Starbucks and order a Triple Iced Espresso in a Venti Cup and then add:
I couldn’t resist posting the recipe for these Clean Eating Waffles because after I tried them, I loved them! My son approves too. Here are four things I love about them:
- They taste just as good as any other homemade Belgian Waffle. They’re fluffy and filling.
- They are very simple to make if you have a waffle maker.
- A large batch can be made, saved and ate days later. (They never last that long in my house though)
- If you drool over the Taco Bell breakfast commercial like I do, you can use this waffle to wrap around eggs, bacon or sausage and make a “breakfast taco” like they do
Our family had the pleasure of having a mini photo session with Michelle Ramirez back in August. We met her at a park near our house and she worked her magic, as usual! She also got some great shots for me to use on the blog.
It was a very hot and humid morning but luckily both of the boys were very good sports
Here are some of my favorites!
Check out Michelle’s website if you are interested in having photos taken. She does not disappoint!
If you saw my Laundry Room or Kitchen Makeover posts, you may have noticed a wreath hanging in the pictures. I’ve had a few people ask me where I got the wreath, and the answer is, I actually made it! I was feeling crafty one day, gathered some supplies from craft stores and attempted to make my own wreath. Surprisingly, it was easy and cheap!
My smoothie making is still in full swing each day. If you’re at my house around lunch time, my kitchen usually sounds like a Jamba Juice with the loud blenders and fresh fruit on the counters. I like to play around with ingredients and this is one of my favorite clean eating smoothies, the Blueberry Cream Smoothie. I can see where this smoothie obsession may die down once we get into some colder weather, but here in California, it is still hot and humid! I like these smoothies as a meal replacement or snack. I think my husband and son are enjoying all of my smoothie making also
Sometimes swapping out a few ingredients in a meal can make a huge difference in how good it is for you. I love enchiladas and after a little research and experimenting, I found a way to make them, and keep the meal within the clean eating diet.
When shopping online and in stores lately, I can’t help but notice all of the great fall booties out right now. They seem to be a great transition from summer to fall, and into winter. I was not a huge fan when I first noticed this trend last year or the year before, but they have really grown on me. I’m now on the hunt for a great pair!
If you follow me on Instagram or Pinterest, you may have noticed that I’m on a smoothie kick! My husband’s parents gave me a Magic Bullet for my birthday last week and I’ve had a lot of fun experimenting with different smoothie recipes. My favorite recipe so far is my Banana, Honey and Almond Smoothie. The title really doesn’t do the smoothie justice. The ingredients also include granola, greek yogurt and a dash of cinnamon and pumpkin spice. The best part? The ingredients are all natural and fit into a “clean eating” diet.
When we first moved into our home, my son was about 18 months old. He was in that between stage where he was growing out of the baby nursery and needed more of a toddler’s room. He definitely was not ready to move out of his crib, so I decided to do a small makeover on his room until he was ready to move to a “big-boy bed” and “big-boy room” (He is going to be two next week and we are still not quite ready for a big-boy bed!)
